By Sampson Adedeji
The hope of Nigeria's representative in the CAF Confederation Cup, Enyimba international qualifying for the knockout round of competition suffered a big set back on Thursday as Ahli Benghazi pipped the Nigeria club 1-0, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
After match day 4 People's Elephants were well placed on the second spot in the group and hoping to get a good result against Benghazi.
But it was never meant to be as host dominated the proceedings from the beginning while the two-time African champions found it difficult to find the back of the net.
Almoatassem altaib netted the only goal of the game in the 40th minute and all the efforts of Enyimba to leveled up proved abortive.
Meanwhile, Enyimba will be without two of their key players for the final match against Orlando Pirates of South Africa, skipper Austin Oladapo received a caution in the 36th minute which ruled him automatically while Timothy Danladi was given a red card in the 74th minute.
Enyimba who now placed third in the group will play Pirates in yet to be determined venue for the last group game.
